About Black Sheep Baby
Black Sheep Baby was birthed, in March 2005, by two tot moms from Minneapolis and a sassy maiden from Brooklyn, with the aim of making tough, simple, stylish clothes for small people.
As of Fall, 2006, only two of us remain: Ingrid (Mom to Hayden) and New York Jennie. Rachelle (Mom to Olivia) has gone to reclaim her life. We wish her much luck.
We continue to move forward with the goal of becoming a household name in alternative kid wear (and eventually much more), while doing business responsibly; it is very important to us that people/children aren’t exploited in the manufacturing of our products. We are currently working on "Black Sheep Baby Free Range," to offer organic selections where possible. Our local print shop (these are not iron-on transfers), Arthouse, is owned by a woman/mom who rocks very hard. We would not still be going without her/them.
Building and running Black Sheep Baby has been nuts, to say the least. We honestly had no idea what it would take to get this far. We’ve had a blast along the way, our biggest challenge being in finding the time to take advantage of all the fabulous opportunities in front of us. Jennie works full time for a Major Corporation in Manhattan and Ingrid works part-time (with Hayden) as an assistant/gardener to a screenwriter and his wife. BSB business is done at naptime/night and it never feels like enough. We’ve got “find investors, then hire minions” on the to-do list, we just have more work to do to get there…
We are so proud of what we’ve created. We are eternally grateful to all the friends, family, support businesses, customers, reporters, retailers, etc. that have joined us along the way and who, in the end, keep us going. Wish us luck, Black Sheep Babies of the World. And tell your friends!
